Okinawan Karate and Kempo systems possess distinct differences from Japanese, Korean, and Chinese fighting arts.

The Wind School weaves three complimentary arts into its curriculum: Isshinryu, Isshin Kempo, and Wu Hsin Tao (Five Element Way), a Chinese esoteric system created during the Ming Dynasty (1368 1644). Together these three arts offer students a holistic presentation of the Martial Way that encompasses practical, therapeutic and spiritual study.

Isshinryu is the Okinawan karate system formalized in the mid 1950’s by master Tatsuo Shimabuku (1908-1975).

The Wind School’s technical base is Isshin Kempo, founded in 1970 by William Scott Russell (author of Karate: The Energy Connection, Delacorte, 1976). Russell (1946-2000) expanded Isshinryu’s technical and kata curriculum, separating Isshin Kempo from its Okinawan predecessor. Goedecke, a senior Isshin Kempo instructor, assumed its successorship in January of 2000, at the passing of its founder.

Goedecke brings an additional twenty years of ongoing research into esoteric martial practices to offer Wind School students insight into authentic power coupled with pertinent metaphysical andphilosophical principles consistent with teachings from the ancient lineage masters.
